Justus Bross, born in 1979 in the city of Bonn (Germany), graduated from the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands with a master degree (M.Sc.) in International Business, earned a master degree in engineering (MBE) from the Steinbeis academy and the D.E.L.E language diploma at the University of Salamanca in Spain.

Afterwards, he became a doctoral candidate and research assistant at the Hasso-Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel, chair for Internet Technologies and -Systems. Next to his research activities, among others as head of the “Collaborative and Social Internet” group, he was coordinating HPIs entire commitment within the IT-summit process of the Federal German Government. After successfully defending his dissertation „Understanding and Leveraging the Social Physics of the Blogosphere“, Justus joined the “Bell Labs” research organization of Alcatel-Lucent as head of the newly formed research department “Strategic Industries Research” in May 2011. His team is focusing on innovation in communications to support the widespread deployment of electric vehicles and their interaction with the smart grid. With his team - and in both research directions - he could position himself since then in many of the most prestigious funding programs of the Federal German Government and the European Commission.
